The Rhythm of Excellence · 2026 Baldrige Conference

From framework
to flow.

Your operating framework already says what good looks like. The gap is in the working day: a request arrives, someone has to find the right guidance, draft a response, exercise judgment and hand the result to the next person. Capillary Actions carries approved sources into that moment and keeps a person at the decision.

01One piece of work

Where the framework meets someone's working day.

Every workflow we build has the same shape. The human decision is the center of the design, not an exception path. A generated draft is not a completed task.

01 · Trigger

Something arrives.

A family calls after hours. A school asks about a visit. A customer signal shows up in operations. The work starts whether or not the right person is free.

02 · Approved context

Your guidance, not the internet's.

Policies, procedures and records your organization already owns, with a named owner and a current version. If the sources do not cover a question, the workflow says so.

03 · Draft with evidence

A result someone can inspect.

A brief, a reply, a completed form or a plan. Every claim links back to the source it came from, so the reviewer checks evidence rather than taking the draft on faith.

04 · Human decision

A person decides, and the decision sticks.

Review, revise, approve. Change the next step and the follow-up plan picks up that change. Nothing is sent, reserved or committed without someone choosing to.

05 · Next step

Ready for the next person.

A reviewed result moves into the team's existing process: the CRM, the case file, the calendar, the inbox. The record of what happened keeps itself.

02 · Try it yourself

The example from the session, in your hands.

A fictional university handles a campus-visit inquiry for thirty students. Prepare the brief, draft the reply, make a staff edit, and watch the follow-up plan pick up your change. Nothing you do here sends a message or reserves a visit.

03 · The Phaneuf journey

What a Baldrige-inspired operating system looks like in daily work.

Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematory and the Cremation Society of New Hampshire are bringing their operating system into the moments where staff actually work, with Capillary Actions and ExcellenceNorth Alliance's Genesis Think Tank.

First call

From a voicemail to a complete first-call record.

An after-hours call becomes the full first-call form the team already uses. Unknown values stay blank, an explicit "no" is kept, and a requested viewing is never turned into a confirmed booking. Staff review before anything is acted on.

Staff knowledge

Answers from Phaneuf's own guidance, with citations.

Employees ask policy, pricing and procedure questions and get answers grounded in Phaneuf and CSNH sources. When the sources do not cover a question, it says so, and that becomes a list of guidance to write.

Families and the public

A front door that knows when to hand off to a person.

Public-facing assistants designed for grief-adjacent conversations. They point visitors to a person by phone, email or form rather than pretending to be one.

Configured capability, actual use and measured improvement are three different things. The learning agenda is which tasks staff return to, what they correct, which exceptions remain, and what the baseline was.

04 · Map one workflow

Bring one recurring task. We will map it with you in 30 minutes.

Tell us the task, who does it, and what a useful result would be. We will come prepared with the process map and the questions that decide whether an evaluation is worth scoping. No price, no commitment.
